Permanent Locations

Fun Biz Concessions operates two permanent locations including the Hangar at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds and the Backyard Steakout at the State Fair of Texas Fairgrounds in Dallas.

Backyard Steakout

The Backyard Steakout is a new venue created for the Texas State Fair in 2018. It's comprised of eight moderinzed and customized shipping containers, stacked and arranged to make a sweet little corner venue featuring Texas BBQ and Urban Italian fare, live music and private hospitality containers. This space is a hidden gem that's both in the fair and away from it - a hay bale filled oasis where live music plays daily, picnic tables are free for use and families and friends come to gather to enjoy a delicious state fair bite.

At the Stakeout, we serve up hot, fresh and local Texas BBQ cuisine including mouthwatering smoked brisket, fall off the bone ribs, and tender juicy steak. Using beef from Texas ranchers, we bring the farm-to-table concept to the State Fair. On the other side of the space, Urban Italian dining features custom woodfired ovens to serve fresh-made pizzas and mouth-watering Italian food. From the goat cheese and lamb meatball platter to the Fredericksburg Peach Gelato, we want locals and vistors to feel both at home and inspired by the cuisine.

The Hangar

Fly into The Hangar. Originally built in 1940 as an actual airplane hangar, and later repurposed as the Pet Center, Fun Biz worked to return this historical building at the Minnesota State Fair to its original glory. The Hangar has now become a staple of the fair's overall culture as a vibrant food and music venue featuring craft beer flights, tasty bites and live music that can serve up to 10,000 people daily.

With a wide selection of unique eats served up daily, there's nothing on the menu that won't take you to new heights. We recommend the Island Hopper or a hollowed-out half-pineapple filled with charbroiled chicken glazed with teriyaki sauce and served with steamy white rice and pineapple chunks, topped with green onions and sesame seeds. Plus, The Hangar's craft beer bar features both local and national brews, including ones you won't find anywhere else at the fair. It's worth making the trip for that alone.
Urban Italian
The second part of the Backyard Stakeout is a taste of Italy, serving up pizzas, gelato and other culinary delights. Whether you're missing some quality Italian eats or just want to try something new, it's a spot worthy of your time and your stomach space. Really anything on the menu is the type of food tasty enough to make you say, “Mangia!”
